Where do I get my news? Unit 2-Post 1

In this day and age it has become tremendously easy and cheap for people to keep up with the news.  The possibilities stretch from classic newspaper subscriber’s, multiple news website readers, those who are glued to their televisions for numerous hours of the day, to the people who are directly involved with the news and are simply always surrounded by information.  To be completely honest I very rarely keep up with what is going on outside of my world, and I’m actually a bit ashamed of that.  For the most part, I stay updated with international soccer by leaving European soccer websites constantly opened on a tab while I am on my computer or I project European soccer channels via the Internet onto a projector in my dorm room.  Since I have enrolled in this class I’ve been required to read the new york times several times a week, and it has been nice to feel a bit more informed.  Coming from a primarily Republican town in South Florida this caused me to have primarily children of Republican enthusiasts as Facebook acquaintances.  The majority of these kids actually have no sense of what is going on in politics; they just repeat what they hear at their dinner tables.  Because of this, I chose to ignore most of the news articles that I see posted on Facebook unless they truly interest me.  In the future I hope to increase my intake of news to broaden my horizons and to stay in touch with aspects of life that really are important.
