One of the most famous daily newspapers in the U.S. is The New York Times, which has lasted
over a century and a half as America’s most popular news website, while the
print newspaper remains the “largest metropolitan newspaper” and the third
largest newspaper behind USA Today
and The Wall Street Journal. The newspaper is split up into three main
sections all including different aspects of the paper; news, opinion, and
features. Within the news you can find
articles on subjects such as international, national, Washington, business,
technology, health, sports, the metro section, education, weather, and
obituaries. In the opinion section,
well, people share opinions such as: editorials, op-eds, and letters to the
editor. Within the features section
readers will find interests such as arts, movies, theatre, travel, dining and
wine, home and garden, fashion and style, etc.
Even though The New York Times
is very critically acclaimed and has won multiple awards and prizes rewarding
their excellence in journalism in a range of categories, I still find myself
not being very amused by the articles I come across. This could be that I have no interest in
aspects of the world outside my bubble, but I disagree with that because I am
still very concerned with what is going on in my motherland of Venezuela and
how they are dealing with the situation of their dictator. To stay updated with the news in Venezuela I
most commonly browse Latin news websites or primarily Venezuela broadcasting
companies, rather than the opinions posted by The New York Times.
